Lipodissolve Mesotherapy

Lipodissolve Mesotherapy: When Diet & Exercise are not enough.

Mesotherapy involves the injection of certain medications into the mesoderm layer of the skin. Mesotherapy is a very good treatment for localized fat deposits of the chin, arms, bra line, saddle bags, love handles, abdomen, thighs, and infraorbital (lower eyelid) fat pads. Medication is used to emulsify and destroy fat cells by destroying the fat cell membrane. Once the mechanism of action occurs, the fat is absorbed back into the body.

How is the treatment performed?

Treatment involves multiple injections using a fine needle to cover the specific area of concern. Each injection covers a treatment area about the size of a quarter. Treatments are repeated until the desired result is achieved. Sessions are separated by a time frame of 4-6 weeks to allow for completion of the lipodissolve process and for recovery. If multiple areas need to be addressed, sessions can be staggered so that different areas are being treated in between the 4-6 week period.

This is one of the most effective nonsurgical treatments for localized fat and results are dependent upon compliance of following through the series of injections. Some may see results after one treatment but ideally three treatments at minimum are necessary.

Am I a good candidate for this procedure?

This procedure is not a weight loss strategy. Do not expect to reduce dress sizes or waistline measurements. The goal is to contour the shape of your body to improve how you look in your current clothes. Ideal candidates for the procedure are those who are currently involved and will continue to exercise and follow a healthy diet after treatment completion. This technique is not appropriate for everyone. Those with lax skin as seen in the elderly of those who have lost a tremendous amount of weight will not achieve a desirable result.

What are the risks, if any?

Most commonly, you may experience temporary mild pain, discomfort, tingling, burning, swelling, and bruising. However, these symptoms are less pronounced after subsequent treatments. Some have reported dizziness, chills, fever, fatigue, lethargy, and decreased appetite. If you experience any of these symptoms, lower doses may be required for future treatments. Hydration, Acetaminophen, and anti-histamines are commonly used to minimize these side effects. At times, you may feel a small nodule or cyst at the injection site. These will resolve without intervention after a few weeks or months. Our staff will always be available to hear your concerns.
